Goal Calculator
Start from a target amount and find out exactly how much you'd need to invest each month to get there.
Goal calculator
Work out the monthly SIP needed today to reach a specific future corpus target.
What is a Goal?
A Goal calculator works backwards from a target. Instead of asking “what will my SIP grow into,” it asks “what SIP do I need to hit a specific number by a specific date,” turning a vague ambition like funding a child’s college into one concrete monthly figure.
How is it calculated?
Why use this calculator
- Converts an abstract goal into a specific, actionable monthly number
- Makes it immediately obvious whether a goal is realistic on the client's current surplus
- A natural opener for a goal-based planning conversation
Who should use it
Anyone with a defined future target, such as a down payment, a wedding, or a child's education, and advisors who lead with goal-based planning rather than generic product pitches.
Frequently asked questions
What if the required monthly SIP is more than I can afford?
That’s useful information on its own: it means the goal, timeline, or return assumption needs to change. Extending the timeline or adjusting the goal amount are the two usual levers.
Does this factor in inflation on the goal amount itself?
Not directly. Enter the goal in today’s terms, or use the Future Goal (Inflation-Adjusted) calculator first to work out what the goal will actually cost by the time you need it.
Can the monthly amount change over time?
This calculator assumes a flat monthly SIP throughout. For a rising SIP, use the step-up option on the standard SIP calculator to check the equivalent outcome.
